HCCI Hosted a Roundtable Bringing Together Business and Education in Technological Industries

Today, the Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) held a roundtable discussion titled “Business and Education in Technological Industries – Prospects and Challenges in the Haskovo Region.” The event brought together representatives of leading industry organizations, local businesses, educational institutions, and experts engaged in the development of Bulgaria’s technological sectors.

Opening the forum, HCCI Chairman Mr. Yancho Yanev emphasized the importance of partnership between business and schools:

“Our region has enormous potential, but it can only be realized if we are united—business, education, and institutions. For us, it is crucial to prepare young specialists whose knowledge and skills meet the needs of modern industry.”

As part of the event, a panel discussion was held with the participation of leading sectoral organizations.

The Executive Director of the Bulgarian Association of Electrical Engineering and Electronics (BASEL), Mr. Orlin Dimitrov, presented current trends in the sector:

“Technological industries in Bulgaria are developing dynamically, but the shortage of qualified personnel has already become a strategic challenge. Therefore, closer cooperation with vocational high schools and investment in dual education are necessary.” It was emphasized that dual education is not a temporary project, but a long-term investment in the future of the regions. Where businesses actively participate, the results are impressive.

Key topics were presented during the program:

“Machine Building in Bulgaria” – Mr. Violin Nenov, Bulgarian Branch Chamber – Machine Building

“Freight Forwarding and Logistics in Bulgaria” – Mr. Tsvetin Todorov, Bulgarian National Freight Forwarding Association

“Prospects for Business Development and Investment with Italy” – Mr. Anselmo Caporossi, Italian Chamber of Commerce

“DOMINO-2 Dual Education Program” – Mr. Vasil Radoynovski, Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce

“National Plan for the Establishment of Technology Hubs” – Mr. Evgeni Ivanov, Institute of Robotics – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

As part of the forum, a special visit was organized to the leading manufacturing company PIM Ltd., one of the most active technology employers in the region. Representatives of Bulgarian industry organizations and guests toured the production facilities and the innovative solutions implemented in the enterprise.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Yancho Yanev, Chairman of the Board of HCCI, emphasized: “Our region needs not only qualified personnel, but motivated young people who see their future here. This roundtable is an important step in that direction.”
